Frequently asked questions

What happens to my bitcoin when I die?

Without a plan, it's almost certainly lost forever: no bank or institution can grant your family access. Casa Inheritance gives your designated recipients a secure, guided path to recover your bitcoin when the time comes.

How is this different from putting my seed phrase in a will?

A seed phrase in a will is a liability. Anyone who reads the document can take everything, and a non-technical recipient may not know what to do with it. Casa's protocol is guided and verifiable, and never exposes your keys while you're alive.

Can my family access my bitcoin while I'm alive?

No. Your recipient's key stays dormant until the inheritance protocol activates. If anyone requests access while you're alive, a verification window gives you time to cancel the claim.

Do my recipients need to provide ID to Casa?

No. Recipients are invited with just an email: no legal name, no government ID, no personal information. Enhanced identity verification is available with Private Client for high-value estates.

Can I set up inheritance through a trust or LLC?

Yes. Casa supports any ownership structure: individual, family trust, foundation, or LLC. The protocol fits alongside your existing will and estate documents, with no rewriting required.

How much does bitcoin inheritance cost?

Inheritance is included with every Casa plan at no extra cost, starting with Standard at $250 a year. It covers bitcoin, ETH, and stablecoins alike.
